Entry 1509

    I fear that Caesar may soon become Emperor of Rome. The crowd yelled thrice, and each time, he put the crown back with more hesitation. Shall he chose to become Emperor, I fear I may have to do something irrational if this may become of him. He may be a great ruler, but he also may be a terrible one, and once he is up this high in the people's hearts, it may be hard to get rid of him and still make it right. Cassius does bring up valid points, and we may have to go through we executing Caesar, for the good of Rome. Caesar has killed our old ruler, and now the people love, after he just murdered Pompey.  believe Julius intends to turn Rome into a monarchy under his own rule, and the more I think about, the more I fear Caesar will be a bad ruler for Rome. The soothsayer said beware the ides of march, with is only a few days from now, is the soothsayer correct to say this? Is this the day when Julius Caesar will fall? I do hope so, even though Caesar is my good friend, and I look high upon him, he must not be crowned emperor of Rome. I don’t see how his murder can be justifiable, as if any other Roman did this, he would be ripped apart by the people of Rome. Unless of course, someone who is high among the people of Rome kills him. Someone like me. This is a bad night for me, the sudden realization that I will most likely have to kill one of my very good friends. and that is what I am stuck between, killing my friend for Rome, or letting Rome die in the hands of my friend.
